All bail bond premiums are set by Louisiana state law under R.S. §22:1443 and enforced by the Louisiana Department of Insurance. The premium is 10% of the bond amount plus a 2% parish fee, with a minimum of $120. Additional fees include a $25 administrative fee and a jail processing fee that varies by parish. All fees will be disclosed in writing before any agreement is signed.
Any person who signs as a co-signer (indemnitor) on a bail bond agreement accepts full financial responsibility for the bond amount if the defendant fails to appear in court. Co-signers should read all agreements carefully before signing. By signing, you acknowledge that you understand and accept these obligations.
If a defendant fails to appear for a scheduled court date, the bond may be forfeited and the full bond amount may become due. Any collateral pledged to secure the bond may be applied toward satisfying the forfeiture. A-1 Affordable Bail Bonds reserves the right to pursue all legal remedies available under Louisiana law to recover forfeited bond amounts.
Bail bond premiums are earned upon posting of the bond and are non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the case, unless otherwise required by Louisiana law.
