A-1 Bail Bond Guide

How Bail Works In Louisiana

Updated March 12, 2026 by A-1 Affordable Bail Bonds

When someone is arrested, the family usually needs three things quickly: where they are, whether bond has been set, and what it will cost to move forward.

Confirm Custody

Use the parish jail roster or statewide VINElink search to confirm where the person is being held. If the arrest is new, the roster may lag behind booking.

Confirm The Bond Amount

The judge or court sets the bond amount. A licensed bondsman can then explain the premium, paperwork, and any case-specific issues.

Complete Paperwork

The cosigner or indemnitor provides information and signs the required agreement. Online intake can speed this up, but it does not replace final review.
